Do you have a question about Chicago, the region, or the people who live here?
WBEZ’s Curious City initiative is helping to uncover the answers. The process is simple: the community asks questions related to Chicago and votes for their favorites. WBEZ then investigates the most popular question with the help of its followers and posts updates in real time. Answers are thus discovered in a collaborative effort, allowing the public to shape journalistic stories for their Wednesday check-in appearance on the Afternoon Shift on WBEZ 91.5 fm.
Not only does Curious City want to get people dialoguing about Chicago and interested in uncovering some of the city’s secrets, but it also wants the public to try out their hand in making journalistic media for public consumption. As a journalistic experiment produced by Jennifer Brandel of WBEZ, Curious Chicago is not only investigating questions of public interest and concern, but also how the nature of journalism is changed by audience participation.
You can participate in the Curious City project here. Remember to tune in to Afternoon Shift on WBEZ 91.5 fm on Wednesdays to hear the latest check-in from the project.
