Register today for eChicago 2012 and hear a variety of voices describe how to transform Chicago from an industrial city to an information hub. At the event, speakers from college campuses, neighborhoods, and the city’s public and non-profit institutions will gather to share ideas for how to make a Chicago “a more digital and more democratic city.” This year’s conference will feature Librarian-scholar Joyce Latham (University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee), who will use the rich history of the Chicago Public Library to inspire lessons for today, and Philip Neustrom (Localwiki.org), who will explain why local wikis in towns around the world have become such a success. Also in the works for eChicago 2012 is a talk on Digitial Equality: the State of the City/State of the State, as well as how-to workshops, broadband updates, and lessons from librarians, community workers, students, scholars, and activists.
eChicago 2012 is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Register today here.
