The White House is encouraging citizens to hack their way to a better America. Last week it announced that June 1-2, 2013 will be designated as a National Day of Civic Hacking, an initiative to promote transparency between governments and its citizens. In an atmosphere of creativity and invention and in the spirit of entrepreneurship, citizens, organizations, companies, and government will collaborate to build solutions to local, state, and national challenges using publicly-released data, code, and technology—along with a lot of brainpower. So far, 43 cities in 24 states and 2 territories are participating in the hackathon weekend.
Those interested in participating can plan, support, and/or attend an event, or can contribute data, code, or a challenge idea.
