Tuesday, October 7, marks the last day to register to vote in the November 4 Illinois general election. While the clock is ticking on how much time remains for registration, thankfully, Illinois offers three convenient methods for getting signed up to vote.

Online:
Register online by filling out the Illinois online form.

In-Person:
Head to any of the following locations to register to vote in person:

·         County Clerk’s Office

·         Board of Elections Commissioner’s Office

·         Local Government Offices

·         Schools

·         Public Libraries

·         Military Recruitment Offices

·         Driver’s License Facilities (when applying for services)

·         Department of Healthcare & Family Services (when applying for services)

·         Department of Employment Security (when applying for services)

Mail:
Complete the Illinois voter registration application and submit by mail to your County Clerk or Board of Elections Commissioner. The application is available in both English and Spanish.

In order to register to vote in Illinois, you must:

·         Be a  U.S. citizen

·         Be at least 18 years old by Election Day

·         Be a resident of your precinct at least 30 days before Election Day

·         Show proof of identity (click to see the list of acceptable forms of identification)

If you miss the voter registration deadline, don’t worry—you can still register! Grace Period registration starts October 8 and runs through Election Day (November 4). If you register to vote during the Grace Period, you must also vote at that time. This may be done at a site designated by your county board of elections or by mail (at the discretion of the election authority).


Registering to vote is easy, so don’t let the process stop you from casting your vote on November 4. Simply fill out the application on your coffee break, lunch break, in between classes, or whenever you have a free moment today, and then you’re all set to go come Election Day!
