The Republican Party is increasing its social presence online with a new application designed to equip Republicans voters with the tools to help them to engage with campaigns and elections and participate in the political process. Mashable reports that the Social Victory Center (SVC) is a “one-stop-online-shop for Republican voters to organize, plan events and volunteer in local, state and national elections.”
Launched on May 1, the site boasts a robust news section featuring the most recent Republican news stories (based on your location) and the latest Republican web ads to keep you informed of the political climate. The site also shows nearby Republican events through Google maps and allows you to create your own event and invite local supporters to participate. You can even join in discussions with other users on issues that you care about, and you can learn about volunteer opportunities that allow you to engage offline directly with the campaign.
"With the Social Victory Center, we are revolutionizing the way activists and volunteers participate in Republican campaigns," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. "We're breaking down geographic borders and connecting users to a nationwide grassroots network and a wealth of political resources.
You can access SVC simply by signing in with your Facebook account. Upon registration, you’ll be required to enter additional input information, such as your zip code, so that news, events, and volunteer opportunities can be localized to your area.
